Netflix’s new series “Nailed It!” is a hilarious new baking show

If you’re a fan of Pinterest fails this is a show for you

Netflix’s new culinary series, “Nailed It!”, takes you on a hilarious adventure of the world of baking fails. The contestants are amateur bakers fighting for the $10,000 grand prize by recreating elaborately designed desserts. Whoever makes the cake that is as close to the original as possible wins.

The hosts of the new show are Pastry chef and chocolatier Jacques Torres and comedian Nicole Byer. Most of the commentary is an explanation of what contestants should be doing played along with clips of what they are doing. So, in a way, you’re learning how to bake along with the contestants.

According to Bustle, the term “nailed it” may come off as a positive phrase. In reality it is used on social media as sarcasm when people post their DIY fails. Most users usually post about their baking fails which is where the idea of the show probably stemmed from. The users will post the picture perfect dessert on one side as a comparison to their at home disaster that looks nothing like the original.

Although many feel that this show is a hilarious and fun show about people trying new things, others feel that the show is too harsh on its contestants. The Paste reported that the show embarrasses and mocks their contestants for money. When they aren’t commentating on how to properly create the dish they turn to mocking the contestants.

In my opinion I think this show is just trying to be a silly way to let people see how baking is not as easy as the pictures make it seem. We all aren’t perfect at everything. I’m sure the contestants know that they’re not professionals and are willing to show their funny creations to challenge themselves
