Chinese pop star’s declared his love for his 12-year-old student and 6 years later they plan to marr

Zhang Muyi and Miki Akama met when she was 8-years-old and was hired to be her vocal coach.

Zhang Muyi, 30, is a pop star with 1.4 million followers on a Chinese social media site called Weibo. When Miki Akama was just 12-years-old he declared his love for her and posted on the site stating he cannot wait for four more birthdays to pass so he can be with her. According to Mothership, Akama was just 12-years-old when she reciprocated her love for him writing the message saying: “Wait until I’m old enough to marry you, and then I’m going to say “I do”.’

As time passed Akam,17, now is an upcoming model who has 1.8 million followers on weibo with her charming looks from being mixed. What’s on Weibo stated, that her mother is Chinese/German and her father is full Japanese. Now the couple have officially announced their engagement on Weibo. Muyi wrote that on September 11, 2018 that is when Miki will be 18 and it will be ten years since they met.

The online community had a lot to say on this situation since both celebrities are quite well known. The couples announcement post had 85 million views and more keep coming. Some users have wished the couple happiness in their marriage while others aren’t feeling as kind. Many feel the relationship is unhealthy and it is a bit like pedophilia since he declared his love for her at such a young age.

Akama has responded to the negativity and she is shocked. She feels like others are making this into a terrible story and twist it to sound as weird as they want it to be. She said that at the age of 12, she was going through puberty and the question of who she liked came up. As she continued to think about it she confided in Muyi and he said when she can date he will help her stay away from bad guys. Then she said that if he doesn’t want her to be hurt by bad guys then he should just marry her. She wanted to make it clear their relationship is pure.

My quick insight on this is that people fall in love with those they spend a lot of time with. Akama is not at fault in my eyes, but Muyi should have been acting more like an adult. Since she is so young he should know not to weirdly post messages declaring his love for her, but silently wait and see what happens. It’s just odd to me that he couldn’t wait for her age to be more appropriate and at 24 confessed to a 12-year-old.
