Is Kanye West cancelled?

Rapper Kanye West, 40, has taken to twitter to share his undying support for the controversial President Trump

People, and even celebrities, have been outraged by Kanye’s blatant support for Trump on his social media. Many are upset that such a big influence is supporting the racist President. West lost about 9 million followers following the Trump tweets. Businessinsider reported that many of those followers are well known celebrities like Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, Will.i.am, and many more.

A lot of debate has begun to surround Kanye’s sudden Trump infatuation. Even singer, and Kanye’s personal friend, John Legend went to speak to Kanye privately on the effect he has on society. That publicly supporting a person who oppresses women and people of color does not sit right with him. To which West responds by claiming Legend is using scare tactics and publicly posts the conversation. Those in support of Kanye are wondering why people are making such a fuss about his political views. That West, like any other person in the world, has a right to support who they want. His wife, Kim Kardashian, was sure to speak her mind on the subject to protect her husband on twitter.

Not soon after another controversy began to surround Kanye. According to Dailymail, the day after all the chaos Kanye West dropped a new song. Fans slam West for using these controversial tweets as a publicity stunt to boost the announcement of a release of an album.

When the controversy was going on some people were questioning Kanye’s mental state which I find a bit too far. Although it is weird for such a iconic person like West to support Trump, that does not mean he has mental issues. It is his right to support someone, but the way he went about it was fishy to me at the time. Now that he has dropped a song it really just shows the celebrities know how to work the media and get people to look at them. However, he still lost respect from other artists and 9 million followers for the stunt.
