Are onscreen lovers Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse dating in real life?

"Riverdale" co-stars were awkwardly asked by a fan if their dating rumors in real life were true.

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse play the iconic “bughead” couple in the show Riverdale which really showcases their chemistry. The characters Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones seem to be getting along very well, but so do their counterparts in real life. Reinhart and Sprouse have been caught by paparazzi together looking quite cozy and sharing cute “couple” photos on their instagram. However, there has never been any confirmation on their dating status.

At the Paley Center for Media’s 35th Annual PaleyFest at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday an event was held for the Riverdale cast. According to People’s magazine, the crowd was going wild for Sprouse as he ascended the stage and as they saw Reinhart following behind the “bughead” fans went nuts. One fan had the courage to ask if the two were dating in real life. That’s when things got awkward.

As Buzzfeed stated, Reinhart immediately covered her face while Sprouse and the rest of the cast couldn’t believe the question. Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica, and KJ Apa, who plays Archie, silently disapproved of the fans question. Madelaine Petsch, who plays Cheryl, on the other hand verbally showed her disapproval of the question calling it inappropriate.

The fan once again pushed for an answer to which Sprouse cooly replied, “no comment”. Fans are yet again stuck on the edge of their seats.

I think there are a lot of celebrity couples who date in order to cause media coverage to boost their films and shows. However, it is possible for two actors to fall for each other after being so intimate all the time on screen. To me, the “bughead” couple seems like a bit of both. They can’t reveal the relationship because it makes the media go crazy with speculation, but it is also their private life. Keeping fans guessing is a good call.

Author Update (April 14, 2018): On April 2, 2018 Reinhart and Sprouse were caught getting cozy together in Paris and paparazzi even caught the two sharing a kiss.
